Attorney James Mixon Griffin

From 1990 to 1992, Mr. Griffin served as a law clerk to a U.S. District Court Judge for the District of South Carolina, the Honorable Dennis W. Shedd—now on the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney in South Carolina from 1992 to 1995, he worked with the agents of the FBI, IRS, U.S. Customs, Secret Service, and ATF investigating and prosecuting a host of federal crimes, including mail and wire fraud, securities fraud, health care fraud, environmental crimes and tax violations.

He was appointed to serve on the U.S. Magistrate Selection Committee for the U.S. District Court for South Carolina from 1998-1999, a respected and accomplished group of attorneys tasked by the federal court officials to screen and recommend magistrate candidates to the federal district judges. Mr. Griffin has previously been appointed by the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina to serve as a Special Master in complex business litigation. He has also been invited to participate in the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference, a bi-annual conference hosted by the appellate judges for all federal judiciary and select attorneys from South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland.
